Translational Biomedical Engineering, Hannover
In this High-Performance Center cooperate the Hannover Medical School, Laser Zentrum Hannover, Leibniz Universität Hannover, and in particular the two clusters of excellence REBIRTH and ”Hearing4all”, besides research consortia such as ”Biofabrication for NIFE”, and Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine ITEM.
Headed by Prof. Theodor Doll, who is holding at the same time a professorship at the Hannover Medical School, the High Performance Center supports excellent innovations in the process of translating research results into clinical applications. The aim is to help companies bringing their products into the market – focusing on the subject areas of active implants and drug delivery systems as examples of novel combinations of smart medical devices with pharmaceutical products. The service portfolio includes accompanying risk and quality management for a decentralized manufacturing platform complying with the standards, as well as testing and development of novel test methods for medical devices, aimed at reaching phase I of clinical development.
