German Packaging Award in the category "Sustainability" for development from the Fraunhofer ISC

The conversion of packaging to recyclability, biogenic raw materials or compostability poses great challenges for industry. The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC supports packaging manufacturers in this process with sustainable multifunctional barrier coatings for easily recyclable, biobased or compostable packaging. For this development, Dr. Sabine Amberg-Schwab was honoured this week with the German Packaging Award in the category "Sustainability".

PCIM EUROPE chooses Kirill Klein for the Young Engineer Award

Kirill Klein has won the Young Engineer Award of PCIM Europe 2020 for his paper on “Low Inductive Full Ceramic SiC Power Module for High-Temperature Automotive Applications”. In the prize paper, Kirill Klein and his co-authors introduce a fully ceramic power module designed to extend the range of electric vehicles at lower system costs.

ARD/ZDF nominate Fraunhofer HHI researcher for the "Women + Media Technology" award

Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Rasch, a former research associate in the institute’s Video Coding & Analytics (VCA) department, has been nominated for the prestigious ARD/ZDF “Women & Media Technology” award. The award recognizes female scientists whose stellar research results in media technology were demonstrated by either bachelor’s, master’s, or doctor’s thesis.

M. Sezer Erkılınç, research associate in the Photonic Systems and Networks department at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, received the IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT) 2017 Paper Award. His paper “SSBI Mitigation and the Kramers-Kronig Scheme in Single-Sideband Direct-Detection Transmission With Receiver-Based Electronic Dispersion Compensation”, (co)-authored by Z. Li, K. Shi, E. Sillikens, L. Galdino, B.C. Thomsen, Prof. P. Bayvel, and Prof. R. Killey, Microsoft Research and University College London (UCL), has been honored as the most influential, highly-cited original paper published in the IEEE/OSA JLT three years prior to the award.
