Fraunhofer Center for Assistive Information and Communication Solutions AICOS

Fraunhofer Portugal in Porto coordinates cooperation between research institutes and customers in Portugal with the Fraunhofer Institutes in Germany. Fraunhofer Portugal manages the Fraunhofer Research Center for Assistive Information and Communication Solutions (AICOS) in conjunction with the University of Porto.

The research scientists develop concepts and solutions designed to facilitate access to information technology by wide sectors of the population. Among their many projects, they are working for example on a new intuitive user interface for cellphones based on open-source software and simplified interfaces between the Internet and the mobile network.
