Leonardo B. Rosario is a development manager with more than 30 years professional experience in project development and management, sustainability auditing, participatory action research, case study documentation, project monitoring and evaluation, community training, network building, organisational development, and technical writing among others.

A former consultant and coordinator of the Smallholder Project of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials, he did a short-term consultancy to Professor Fumiko Furukawa of Kobe University in Japan. At present, he is a consultant and local expert of Proforest in the United Kingdom for sustainability assessment following Nestle’s Responsible Sourcing Guidelines. He is also a consultant of Crop Defenders of Canada and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the United Nations Development Programme Equator Prize in New York City.

As Executive Director of Trowel Development Foundation, he conceptualized and managed projects that won both national and international project competitions, namely: World Bank Panibagong Paraan Project Grant Competition held in the Philippines in 2008; World Bank Development Marketplace Global Competition on Climate Adaptation held in Washington DC in 2009; and United Nations Development Program Equator Prize held in New York City in 2010. He was a world nominee and finalist for the Energy Globe World Award 2017.

Mr. Rosario obtained a degree in agricultural engineering and a postgraduate diploma in community development from the University of the Philippines. He also earned certificates in RSB sustainability auditing from ASTRA Academy in Madrid, Spain and Ecological Documentation from Nordic Folkhogskola-Biskops Arno in Balsta, Sweden.
