Simone works on various RSB projects and is a member of our Business Development Team. She is an environmental engineer who holds a PhD in Energy Planning from University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in association with the Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBr). She has dedicated her career to the bioeconomy field, energy planning and life cycle assessment of bio-based products and services. In addition to her activities at RSB, Simone is a researcher at UNICAMP, where she works on urban mobility projects focused on assessing the sustainability of different powertrain technologies and fuels.
Prior to her current role, she worked as researcher in sustainability and social development at the University of New Hampshire, USA and at the Interdisciplinary Center of Energy Planning (NIPE/UNICAMP). In 2013, as a visiting researcher at Berkeley National Lab, USA, she worked on strategies for a sustainable bio-based economy on an evaluation of the food-bioenergy nexus. As an engineer at Abengoa Bioenergy Brazil – a sugar & ethanol company – Simone was responsible for reports on greenhouse gas emissions and social responsibility standards. From 2011 to 2013, was a board member of the student chapter for the International Society of Industrial Ecology. She has published several scientific papers and book chapters and has received six national and international awards.
