Clean power protects people and the climate.<\/div>\n
Electricity production, with its heavy reliance on coal, accounts for more than 40% of global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. With projections that electricity use will grow by around 60% in the next two decades, a fundamental transition to clean power is needed to protect the climate from the global power sector.<\/div>\n

Clean power can catalyze dramatic reductions in global carbon dioxide emissions and yield significant additional benefits, such as healthier living conditions, increased energy security, and greater economic competitiveness. The ClimateWorks Power Program targets key areas that, together, can accelerate the transformation of the global power sector.<\/p>\n

Clean Energy, Clean Air<\/h3>\n

The Clean Energy, Clean Air initiative supports efforts to rapidly transform the power sector away from coal power toward clean energy in over 10 countries across Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The benefits of expanding clean energy go far beyond reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. The burning of coal and other fossil fuels emit air pollutants that can create severe and long-lasting health impacts. By working to keep those pollutants out of our air, we can all breathe cleaner air, protect public health, provide reliable and abundant clean energy, and slow climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n
