Luc Pelkmans is Technical Coordinator of the IEA Bioenergy Technology Cooperation Program and managing director of the consultancy company CAPREA Sustainable Solutions. He graduated as MSc in mechanical engineering in 1994 and worked for the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) from 1996 until 2017 as project manager on alternative transport fuels and drivetrains, biofuels, bioenergy, and biobased economy.

Eddie started in the markets in 1980 and has worked on trading desks in Bullion, Energy, Agricultural, Softs, Metals Futures & Options. In the late 1980’s he added FX, Equities and Fixed Income to his abilities and by 1990 he’d managed desks in all of these. He joined Esprit Brokers (precursor to ADMISI) in 1991 to develop FX business & started the 24 Hour FX Desk. By 2018, after 27 successful years as Head of FX he moved over to a new role as Head of Technical Analysis and Senior Markets Analyst. Eddie is a Director of The Society of Technical Analysts in the UK. He’s also a Member of ACI-UK (the FX dealers association) and an Associate Member of the CISI. Eddie publishes ‘Eddie’s Crayons…’ Technical Analysis reviews on FX and commodity futures markets. He regularly speaks at conferences and on TV & radio.

Theo joined Wood Mackenzie in November 2019 and is a member of the Oil & NGLs research team based in the London Office. He is responsible for working primarily on oil demand modelling and forecasting for the EMEARC region. He is also responsible for our European biofuels market outlook.

Prior to working with Wood Mackenzie, Theo spent five years at Centrica where he was Senior Fundamentals Analyst in the Group Economics and Fundamentals Team. Among Theo's responsibilities at Centrica was the building and maintenance of models projecting global crude oil supply/demand balances and price. He was responsible for the analysis behind, and presentation of, the macro economic and oil sections of their monthly and half-yearly reports.

Theo holds a degree in economics from the University of Macedonia in Greece and a masters in energy, trade and finance from Cass Business School in London. He is currently undertaking data science courses which further supplement his academic qualifications.

Robert joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2013 and holds the position of Assistant Director, Aviation Environment. IATA is the trade association representing more than 290 commercial airlines and he leads IATA’s work on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). A key focus is to accelerate the global deployment of SAF while addressing policy, economic, sustainability and logistic challenges. Robert serves as a member of the United Nations ICAO Fuels Task Group, with particular focus on how SAF will be recognized under CORSIA. He is also a Director and Treasurer of the Round Table on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB). Robert’s studies include a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and post graduate studies in Applied Finance. In 2008 he earned a Master’s in Business Economics from the University of Queensland. Prior to joining IATA Robert was the Head Economist for Virgin Australia Airlines.

Until the end of December 2020, Olivier (Olly) Macé is Biofuels Director for bp fuels supply & midstream Europe, responsible for the biofuels commercial performance in the region. Olly has worked in the Downstream Oil and Biofuels sectors for the last 30 years, holding a variety of roles across Refining, Trading, Supply & Logistics, Fuels and Lubricants Sales, Finance, Strategy etc. In 2006, BP launched the BP Biofuels organisation, aimed at developing a large-scale biofuels business based on advanced technologies and production assets. Olly joined BP Biofuels at its inception and held various managerial positions between 2006 and 2013, including Regional Director Europe & Africa and Global Head of Strategy, Regulatory Affairs & Communication. During this period, bp made a number of significant investments in the biofuels sector, most notably the acquisition of three ethanol plants in Brazil which are now part of the BP-Bunge Bioenergia JV.

Olly will retire from bp at the end of 2020 but intends to remain involved in the Biofuels sector as an independent.

Dario Giordano has been Green Chemistry Licensing Manager at Versalis since November 2018.

After graduating in Chemical Engineering at Turin Polytechnic, he joined Mossi and Ghisolfi (M&G) Group in 1990 and he had several management responsibility and covered several positions.

He has been VP R&D and Technology and member of the Executive Committee of M&G Group.

Since April 2015, Dario served as Chief Executive Officer of Beta Renewables S.p.A, leading the licensing activities of proprietary technology (PROESA ®) for the production of second generation ethanol and conversion of biomass to sugar.

Following the acquisition by Versalis of M&G Bio Perimeter on November 1st 2018, Dario joined Versalis and is in charge of licensing activities related to Green Chemistry.

Angel Alvarez Alberdi is the Secretary General of the European Waste-to-Advanced Biofuels Association (EWABA) since its creation in 2013. EWABA is a Brussels-based trade association defending the interests of the waste-based biodiesel industry using feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO), animal fats and other advanced wastes and residues to produce sustainable biofuels with high greenhouse gas savings.

Angel has been working in EU government and institutional affairs in Brussels for over 12 years, with a particular focus on energy and transport matters and EU legislative procedures. He started his career with a stint at the European Commission’s Secretariat General, to then work for an international public affairs consultancy, the EU trade association European Biodiesel Board, and a global law firm. A lawyer by training, Angel holds an M.A. in European Interdisciplinary Studies with a major in EU Governance from the College of Europe.

As a Project Lead within the Future Fuels team, Sjoerd is heading several early-stage projects which aim to develop commercial-scale SAF production capacity.

Emmanuel leads the ePURE team, which he first joined in 2013 as Director of Government Affairs responsible for energy and environmental affairs. Before coming to ePURE, Emmanuel was Senior Manager for Public Affairs with Novozymes. His career in public affairs and advocacy also includes positions with UNICA, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association, and the Industrial Ethanol Association. He holds a Master’s Degree from the Institute of Political Studies of Bordeaux and an LL.M in European Law from the University Carlos III of Madrid. A French citizen, Emmanuel also speaks English and Spanish.

Xavier, a French citizen, holds masters in both law and public affairs from France and Germany. Prior to joining EBB as Secretary General, Xavier held a similar job in another organisation in the renewable energy field. Most recently, he has created the EU office of PEFC International the global certification for sustainable forest management and traceability.

By training he is a Chemical Engineer with over 38 years’ diverse experience in design, engineering, project management, business development and leading start-ups in the industrial biotech space. He has over twenty years of experience managing multi-national teams across the full life-cycle of international businesses right from the stage of identifying and creating customer value to long term partnerships. Currently he leads Praj’s business development efforts in Europe for the Advanced Biofuels and bio-chemicals business.

Cornelius is a Brussels-based senior analyst responsible for biofuels, electric vehicles and alternative fuels in Europe. Before joining Stratas, he built up experience in the European Commission’s DG Trade, Brussels-based think tanks and international energy media. Cornelius has a Degree in Applied Economics: Business Engineering and a Master in European Studies from the University of Leuven. Born in Belgium, he is fluent in Dutch, English, French and Spanish.

Ignacio Herraez is sales engineer at NANOGAP, Spanish R&D company in the field of nanomaterials. His role within the company is focused in the sales department of nanoparticles, nanofibers and Atomic Quantum Clusters, mostly creating Custom Product Development projects hand in hand with customers within the petrochemical, and chemical industry. He is also the innovation manager within BACTOFUEL project, a multidisciplinary project which aim is to produce biofuels from sunlight, water, CO2 and bacterium to be used in the transport sector. He is responsible for the dissemination and exploitation of the results, which target is to reach commercialisation faster than expected. He graduated as Msc in chemical engineer, and currently undertaking a Msc in Biotechnology. Prior to work in the nanotechnology sector, he has worked as application engineer, export manager and project manager in the industrial sector for 7 years.
